غُفْرَانَكَ
When the Prophet (peace be upon him) came out of the bathroom, he would say: 'Ghufranaka.'
The دعاء when leaving the bathroom is: 'Ghufranaka' — I seek Your forgiveness. Exit with the right foot. Some scholars explain this seeking of forgiveness is for the inability to remember Allah while inside the bathroom, or gratitude for Allah removing harmful waste from the body.
غُفْرَانَكَ
Ghufranaka.
Meaning: I seek Your forgiveness.
Source: Sunan Abu Dawud #30Scholars offer several wisdoms for seeking forgiveness upon leaving the bathroom: (1) seeking pardon for the time spent unable to remember Allah, (2) gratitude for Allah's blessing of removing harmful waste from the body, and (3) recognizing the blessing of good health. This simple word turns a mundane act into worship.
