Marriage in الإحرام(النكاح في الإحرام) The prohibition of contracting marriage, proposing marriage, or acting as a marriage guardian while in the state of الإحرام. This applies to both الحج and العمرة and is agreed upon by the majority of scholars.
النكاح في الإحرام
النبي Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: 'The muhrim should not marry, give in marriage, or make a proposal of marriage' (صحيح مسلم). This prohibition covers the الحاج entering into a new marriage contract, serving as the wali (guardian) in someone else's marriage, or making a formal marriage proposal. According to the majority of scholars (Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali), any marriage contract performed during الإحرام is invalid and must be repeated after الإحرام ends. The Hanafi school considers the contract sinful but technically valid, though this is the minority view. Physical intimacy between existing spouses is also prohibited during الإحرام and can invalidate the الحج if it occurs before the standing at عرفة.
