السعي Direction(اتجاه السعي) The prescribed direction for performing السعي, which must begin from the hill of الصفا toward المروةh and end the seventh lap at المروةh. This sequence follows النبيic السنة and القرآنic order.
اتجاه السعي
The direction of السعي is أُسس by القرآن and السنة. Allah mentions in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:158): 'Indeed, الصفا and المروةh are among the symbols of Allah.' النبي Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) began his السعي at الصفا, saying 'I begin with what Allah began with.' The majority of scholars (Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali) consider starting from الصفا a condition (shart) for the validity of السعي — meaning if someone starts from المروةh, that first walk does not count. The Hanafi school considers it واجب (واجب) but not a condition of validity, meaning starting from المروةh would be sinful but the السعي could still be valid with an additional lap. Practically, the multi-level Mas'a has clear signage indicating direction.
