الركن اليماني
The Yemeni Corner (Rukn al-Yamani) is the southwestern corner of the الكعبة, facing Yemen. It is سنة to touch it with the right hand during الطواف without kissing it. Between the Yemeni Corner and the الحجر الأسود, الحجاج recite the دعاء: 'Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhab an-nar.'
The Yemeni Corner is one of the four corners of the الكعبة, named because it faces the direction of Yemen. It rests on the original foundations laid by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), unlike some other parts of the الكعبة which were modified over time. النبي Muhammad (PBUH) used to touch this corner during الطواف, establishing it as a سنة practice. Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) was particularly known for never missing touching both the Yemeni Corner and the الحجر الأسود.
The Yemeni Corner stands on the original Ibrahimic foundations of the الكعبة. Touching it is an أُسس سنة. The stretch between the Yemeni Corner and the الحجر الأسود is a particularly blessed segment of الطواف, where a specific القرآنic دعاء is مستحب.
During الطواف, try to touch the Yemeni Corner with your right hand as you pass. Do not kiss it or say 'Allahu Akbar' when touching it (this is specific to the الحجر الأسود). If the crowd prevents you from reaching it, continue without pointing toward it (unlike the الحجر الأسود where pointing is سنة). Between this corner and the الحجر الأسود, recite the مستحب دعاء from Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201.
