It is not جائز to intentionally earn interest and then use it for الحج. Interest (riba) is among the most severely prohibited matters in Islam. Allah says: 'Allah has permitted trade and محرم interest' (Al-Baqarah 2:275). However, if a person has already received interest without seeking it (such as from a conventional bank account), scholars advise donating it to the poor rather than using it for personal benefit. الشيخ ابن باز stated: 'الحج must be funded from lawful (halal) earnings. النبي (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: Allah is pure and accepts only what is pure (صحيح مسلم 1015).'
