Is it جائز to get married or propose marriage while in the state of الإحرام?

It is not جائز for a person in the state of الإحرام to marry, give someone in marriage, or propose marriage. النبي (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: 'The muhrim (one in الإحرام) shall not marry, nor give in marriage, nor propose marriage' (صحيح مسلم 1409). This prohibition is agreed upon by the four schools of fiqh. الشيخ ابن باز stated: 'Marriage during الإحرام is invalid عند جمهور العلماء, and the contract must be repeated after leaving the state of الإحرام' (Fatawa ابن باز, vol. 16). If a marriage contract is performed during الإحرام, the majority hold that it is invalid and must be redone. الشيخ ابن عثيمين stated: 'Any marriage contract concluded while one or both parties are in الإحرام is void and must be renewed after التحلل.'
