Nigerian jamaah haji register through the National Haji Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) or their respective state Haji boards. Registration is conducted through state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards. Applicants must submit a valid Nigerian e-passport, medical fitness certificate, meningitis ACYW vaccination, and passport photographs. NAHCON coordinates visa processing with the Saudi Embassy in Abuja. Each state receives a quota allocation based on Muslim population. Deposits must be made to designated banks.

NAHCON accredits private Haji tour operators alongside state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards. The list of approved operators is published on NAHCON's website before each Haji season. Pilgrims can choose between state board packages and private operator packages. States in northern Nigeria (Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Katsina) typically have the largest contingents. All operators must meet NAHCON's minimum service standards.

Hausa, Yoruba, and English-speaking guides are available in Arab Saudi. Nigerian naira should be exchanged through authorized Bureau de Change operators. The hot and humid climate of Nigeria provides partial preparation for Mekkah's panas. Nigerian jamaah haji should ensure yellow fever vaccination is current. Medical teams from Nigeria accompany each state delegation. Many Nigerian Muslims follow the Maliki madhab.
