Haji travel companies are licensed by the Ministry of Endowments. Qatar Airways operates special Haji charter flights. The ministry website publishes approved operators with package categories ranging from economy to VIP.
Qatar has a relatively small Haji quota due to its population size. Priority is given to first-time jamaah haji and elderly applicants. The Qatari government provides generous subsidies for citizens performing Haji. Overland travel via Arab Saudi became easier after the reopening of the Salwa border crossing.
