| Arabic | إتمام السعي |
|---|---|
| Pronunciation | it-MAAM as-SA'-ee |
| Etymology | From Arabic إتمام (itmam, 'completion/finishing') and السعي (as-sa'i, 'the striving'). The root ت-م-م indicates bringing something to completion. |
sa'i Completion(إتمام السعي) The proper conclusion of the sa'i ritual, which occurs when the seventh lap ends at Marwah. After sa'i, the jamaah haji proceeds to mencukur habis (shaving) or memotong rambut (trimming) to complete the rites.
إتمام السعي
Completing sa'i correctly requires finishing all seven laps with the final lap ending at Marwah. If a jamaah haji is unsure about the count, they should assume the lower number and complete additional laps to reach seven. Upon reaching Marwah for the seventh time, the jamaah haji may make doa but there is no specific prescribed doa. For Umrah, the next step after sa'i completion is mencukur habis or memotong rambut (shaving or trimming the hair), which marks the exit from ihram. For Haji Tamattu, the sa'i may be performed after Tawaf al-Ifadah. Scholars differ on whether wudhu (ablution) is required for sa'i — the majority view is that it is sunnah (mustahab) but not required, unlike tawaf. sa'i can be paused for salah or rest and then resumed from where the jamaah haji stopped.
