قرن المنازل / السيل الكبير
Qarn al-Manazil (now known as As-Sayl al-Kabeer) is the miqat for jamaah haji coming from the Najd region (central Arabia), the Gulf states (UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar), and those traveling from the direction of Taif. Located about 80 km east of Mekkah, it is the closest miqat for the eastern approach to the holy city.
Qarn al-Manazil was designated by Nabi Muhammad (PBUH) as the miqat for the people of Najd. The name refers to a mountainous area near Taif. The modern miqat point has been established at As-Sayl al-Kabeer (Wadi Mahram), a town along the highway from Taif and Riyadh to Mekkah. This is the miqat used by many jamaah haji flying into Taif airport as well as those driving from the eastern and central regions of Arab Saudi. The facility has been developed with a masjid and ihram preparation areas.
As one of the five prophetically designated miqat points, Qarn al-Manazil serves the large population of central and eastern Arabia. It represents the eastern sacred boundary on the approach to Mekkah and is one of the busiest miqat during Haji season due to the large number of jamaah haji from Arab Saudi and the Gulf states.
Qarn al-Manazil / As-Sayl al-Kabeer is on the main highway from Taif to Mekkah. Buses and cars traveling from Riyadh, the Gulf states, or Taif will stop here. The facility includes Masjid As-Sayl al-Kabeer with washrooms, changing rooms, and shalat areas. Pilgrims flying into Taif should plan their ihram for this stop. Some coaches stop for an extended break here. The drive from this miqat to Mekkah takes about 1-1.5 hours. Ihram clothing and basic supplies are available for purchase. Perform mandi wajib if facilities allow, make your niyyah, and begin the talbiyah.
