What Do Scholars Say?
Scholarly references supporting this guidance from established Islamic sources.
Make the intention for Umrah: 'Labbayk Allahumma Umratan.' Begin reciting the Talbiyah. All ihram restrictions are now in effect. Pray two rakaat of sunnah at the masjid.
Once the niyyah is made, all ihram restrictions apply immediately.
Proceed to the Haram promptly.
4
Return to Masjidil Haram
Take a taxi or bus back to Masjidil Haram, reciting the Talbiyah throughout. Upon entering the Haram, stop the Talbiyah and proceed to begin tawaf.
Continue the Talbiyah until you begin tawaf at the Hajar Aswad.
5
Perform Tawaf and sa'i
Perform the standard Umrah: 7 circuits of tawaf (with idtiba and raml for men), pray 2 rakaat, drink Zamzam, then perform sa'i (7 laps between Safa and Marwa).
This is a complete, independent Umrah — all components must be fulfilled.
6
Complete with Halq or Taqsir
After sa'i, shave (men) or trim (both) to exit ihram. Your Umrah is complete and all ihram restrictions are lifted.
Each new Umrah requires exiting the Haram boundary to enter ihram again.
