In times of severe distress, recite the dua of Prophet Yunus: 'La ilaha illa Anta Subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin' — There is no god but You, glory be to You, indeed I was among the wrongdoers (Kur'an 21:87). Hz. Peygamber said no Muslim calls upon Allah with bu dua except that Allah responds.
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
La ilaha illa Anta Subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin.
Meaning: There is no god but You, glory be to You, indeed I was among the wrongdoers.

It combines three elements: affirmation of tawhid (la ilaha illa Anta), glorification of Allah (Subhanaka), and acknowledgment of one's own shortcomings (inni kuntu minaz-zalimin). This combination of humility and faith is the key to its acceptance.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The supplication of Dhun-Nun (Prophet Yunus) when he was in the belly of the whale: La ilaha illa Anta Subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin. No Muslim calls upon Allah with it concerning any matter except that Allah responds to him.'
