اللَّهُمَّ أَطْعِمْ مَنْ أَطْعَمَنِي وَاسْقِ مَنْ سَقَانِي
When the Prophet (peace be upon him) was invited to eat, he would eat and then say: 'Allahumma at'im man at'amani wasqi man saqani.'
The dua for the host after eating is: 'Allahumma at'im man at'amani wasqi man saqani' — O Allah, feed the one who has fed me and give drink to the one who has given me drink. Another version: 'Aftara 'indakumus-sa'imun wa akala ta'amakumul-abrar wa sallat 'alaykumul-mala'ikah.'
اللَّهُمَّ أَطْعِمْ مَنْ أَطْعَمَنِي وَاسْقِ مَنْ سَقَانِي
Allahumma at'im man at'amani wasqi man saqani.
Meaning: O Allah, feed the one who has fed me and give drink to the one who has given me drink.
Source: Sahih Muslim #2055This dua exemplifies Hz. Peygamber's character of reciprocating kindness with the best possible return — dua to Allah. When we cannot repay someone's generosity materially, we can supplicate to Allah to provide for them. During Hac, hacilar often share food and hospitality; bu dua strengthens the bonds of brotherhood.
