Group Hac is strongly sunnet for first-timers due to guided rituals and handled logistics; experienced hacilar may prefer basic packages with more flexibility.
For the vast majority of hacilar, especially first-timers, performing Hac with an organized group is strongly sunnet. A good Hac group provides: a knowledgeable scholar who guides the rituals step by step, organized transportation between Mekke, Mina, Arafat, and Muzdelife, pre-arranged tent accommodation in Mina, meal services, and a community of fellow hacilar for support and companionship. The logistics of Hac are enormously complex, and having them handled allows you to focus entirely on the spiritual experience.
The main advantages of a more independent approach are flexibility in timing (performing tavaf when you want, not when the group decides), privacy for personal worship, and potentially lower cost if you can arrange logistics efficiently. However, international hacilar must register through a licensed Hac operator for visa purposes, so true solo Hac is not an option. The real choice is between a full-service group package (everything organized, including a scholar and set schedule) versus a basic package (accommodation and transport provided, but you manage your own ritual schedule). For repeat hacilar who know the rituals well, the basic package may be preferable.
