Yes, and this is actually the most common approach. There are three types of Hac, each handling the Umre-Hac combination differently:
**Hac Tamattu (Enjoying):** The most sunnet type for hacilar coming from outside Mekke. You enter Ihram for Umre at the Miqat, perform Umre in Mekke (Tavaf, Say, hair cutting), then exit Ihram and enjoy normal life until the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, when you enter Ihram again for Hac from your accommodation in Mekke. This type requires an farz animal sacrifice (hady). Hz. Peygamber (sallallahu aleyhi ve sellem) said: 'Had I known what I know now, I would not have brought a sacrificial animal and would have made it an Umre' — encouraging Tamattu for those who did not bring animals.
**Hac Qiran (Combining):** You enter Ihram for both Hac and Umre simultaneously at the Miqat. You remain in Ihram from the time of Umre until after the Hac rites are completed — a significantly longer period. The Tavaf and Say of Umre are combined with those of Hac. This type also requires an animal sacrifice.
**Hac Ifrad (Single):** You enter Ihram only for Hac, without performing Umre. No animal sacrifice is required (though it is sunnet). You may perform Umre after completing all Hac rites.
For most modern hacilar, Tamattu is ideal because it allows you to break from Ihram between Umre and Hac, providing comfort during the waiting days. The sacrifice is a small price for this significant convenience.
