Bring 4-5 liters of water, umbrella, sunscreen, light snacks, namaz mat, Kur'an/dua list, phone charger, medications, ORS packets, wet wipes, and ID — travel light for 8+ hours in extreme heat.
The Day of Arafat requires careful preparation since you will spend 8+ hours in an open area in extreme heat (often 45-50°C). Water is your most critical supply — bring at least 4-5 liters and drink consistently throughout the day, even before feeling thirsty. An umbrella is essential for shade (remember, men in Ihram cannot wear hats). Apply and reapply sunscreen on exposed skin.
Bring light, easily digestible food: dates, fruits, sandwiches, and energy bars. Avoid heavy meals that cause lethargy. Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS) packets are invaluable — mix with water to replace electrolytes lost through sweating. Pack your personal medications, pain relievers, and any chronic condition supplies. Wet wipes and tissue are essential for hygiene when bathroom facilities are distant.
For worship, bring: a namaz mat (the ground is too hot to pray on directly), a Kur'an or dua booklet, a written list of personal duas you want to make, and a portable phone charger (your phone is useful for dua apps and GPS). Carry your ID, acil durum contacts card, and hotel address in case you get separated from your group. A small bag or pouch for collecting pebbles at Muzdelife later that night is also useful. Keep your overall pack light and compact — a small backpack is ideal. Leave unnecessary items at your Mina tent or hotel.
