| Etymology | From Arabic سنة (sunnah, 'established practice'), غير (ghayr, 'not/other than'), and مؤكدة (muakkadah, 'confirmed'). The prefix ghayr negates the emphasis. |
Sunnah Ghair Muakkadah(سنة غير مؤكدة) A non-emphasized or non-confirmed practice of Hz. Peygamber Muhammad (sallallahu aleyhi ve sellem) that he performed sometimes and left at other times. There is no blame for omitting it, and performing it earns reward.
سنة غير مؤكدة
Sunnah Ghair Muakkadah represents the lightest category of sunnet actions in Islamic law. These are acts Hz. Peygamber performed occasionally but was not consistent in performing, indicating they are desirable but not strongly emphasized. The distinction between Sunnah Muakkadah and Ghair Muakkadah is important in fiqh because it affects how strongly an act is sunnet. Examples include: four rakaat before Asr namaz, four rakaat before Isha, and some additional voluntary namazs. A person who performs these acts earns reward from Allah, but one who omits them entirely is not blameworthy. In Hac context, certain additional acts of worship at the holy sites fall into this category — they enhance the haci's experience but are not required for a valid hac ibadeti.
From Arabic سنة (sunnah, 'established practice'), غير (ghayr, 'not/other than'), and مؤكدة (muakkadah, 'confirmed'). The prefix ghayr negates the emphasis.
