Hac Tamattu is the most sunnet type: perform a complete Umre first upon arrival, exit ihram, enjoy normal life, then enter ihram again for Hac on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah. The sequence: arrive at miqat, ihram for Umre, tavaf + sa'i + halq, exit ihram, free period, ihram for Hac on 8th, then all Hac rituals. A sacrifice (hady) is required.
At or before the miqat, enter ihram with the intention for Umre: 'Labbayk Allahumma Umratan.' This is the key distinction of Tamattu — you enter for Umre first, NOT Hac. Begin the Telbiye and proceed to Mekke.
Perform a complete Umre: stop Telbiye upon reaching the Haram, perform tavaf (7 circuits with idtiba and raml for men), pray 2 rak'at, drink Zamzam, perform Say (7 laps), then halq or taqsir. After hair cutting, you exit ihram completely.
These are the most frequent errors pilgrims make during this stage of Hajj.

Between Umre and the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, you are free from ihram. Wear normal clothing, use perfume, live normally. Use this time for worship at the Haram, voluntary tavaf, Kur'an, and dua.
On the morning of the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, perform gusul and enter ihram from your accommodation with the intention for Hac: 'Labbayk Allahumma Hajjan.' Begin the Telbiye. Then proceed to Mina.
Follow the standard Hac sequence: Mina (8th), Arafat (9th), Muzdelife, stoning + sacrifice + shaving on 10th, Tavaf al-Ifadah + Say (separate from Umre Say), and stoning on 11th-13th. Because you are performing Tamattu, you MUST offer a sacrifice (hady).
Before leaving Mekke, perform Tavaf al-Wida as the final act of your Hac. Your combined Hac Tamattu journey is complete — you have performed a full Umre and a full Hac.
