What are the rules for photography and recording during حج?

Photography is not explicitly حرام during حج, but there are practical and ethical guidelines to follow. The Saudi authorities generally permit photography of the کعبۃ اللہ, مسجد الحرام's architecture, and general scenes, but security personnel may ask you to stop in crowded areas where phone usage creates congestion or safety hazards. During طواف and sa'i, taking photos while performing the ritual is strongly discouraged as it detracts from the spiritual focus and can impede the flow of other حجاج.
