Masjid al-Qiblatayn: The Mosque of Two Qiblas Masjid al-Qiblatayn marks where قرآن مجیدic revelation changed the نماز direction from Jerusalem to مکہ مکرمہ, making it historically significant.
Masjid al-Qiblatayn is one of the most historically significant مسجدs in مدینہ منورہ. It is traditionally identified as the location where قرآن مجیدic revelation commanding the change of the qibla from Jerusalem to the کعبۃ اللہ was received during a congregational نماز. The relevant verse states: 'Turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque.'
The مسجد is located in the northwestern part of مدینہ منورہ, about 4 kilometers from نبی کریم's Mosque. Its name comes from the fact that during the نماز when the revelation came, the congregation turned mid-نماز from facing Jerusalem to facing مکہ مکرمہ.
Visiting is not a required act of worship but is a meaningful experience connecting حجاج to a pivotal moment in Islamic history. Most organized ziyarah tours include this مسجد alongside Uhud, Quba, and the Seven Mosques area. The مسجد is open for daily نمازs and visitation.
