Visiting مدینہ منورہ is highly مستحب — pray at Masjid al-Nabawi, visit the Rawdah, Masjid Quba, and Uhud; the Haramain train connects مکہ مکرمہ to مدینہ منورہ in 2-3 hours.
Visiting مدینہ منورہ is highly مستحب and most حج packages include it, though it is not a ritual obligation of حج. نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: 'A نماز in my مسجد is better than a thousand نمازs in any other مسجد except مسجد الحرام' (Bukhari and Muslim). There is no احرام requirement for visiting مدینہ منورہ — you travel in your regular clothing.
Key sites to visit include: Masjid al-Nabawi for نمازs and visiting the Rawdah (the area between نبی کریم's pulpit and his chamber, described as a garden of Paradise), sending salutations upon نبی کریم at his grave, praying at Masjid Quba (praying two rak'at there equals the reward of an عمرہ according to hadith), visiting the Uhud battlefield and the martyrs' cemetery, and exploring the famous date market. The Haramain high-speed train connects مکہ مکرمہ to مدینہ منورہ in about 2-3 hours and is the most comfortable option. Most حجاج spend 3-5 days in مدینہ منورہ.
