Summer heat makes outdoor rituals demanding, winter cold affects مزدلفہ nights, and rain can disrupt طواف but is considered a blessing.
During summer حج, outdoor rituals like standing at عرفات for hours, overnight at مزدلفہ, and the منیٰ stay become physically grueling. The stoning of جمرات in dense crowds is particularly challenging in extreme heat. Authorities have installed misting systems but personal heat management remains essential.
Winter transforms the experience. طواف and sa'i become comfortable, but the overnight مزدلفہ stay can be surprisingly cold at 10 to 15 degrees. Bring warm layers and a blanket. منیٰ tents are unheated.
Rain is infrequent but impactful. The Mataf can become slippery, and طواف may be suspended. Flash flooding has affected منیٰ historically. However, rain during حج, especially at عرفات, is considered a great blessing.
