He was widely known for his accessibility, personally answering thousands of questions from ordinary Muslims, and for his extensive guidance on حج and عمرہ rulings.
Sheikh Abdullah ibn Jibreen was born in the Al-Quway'iyyah area of central Saudi Arabia in 1933 CE (1352 AH). He pursued Islamic education from a young age, studying under several prominent Saudi scholars before completing his formal education at the Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh. He was appointed as a member of the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta (the body responsible for issuing official religious rulings in Saudi Arabia) and served in this capacity for many years.
Ibn Jibreen was distinguished by his extraordinary accessibility and tireless commitment to answering questions from ordinary Muslims. He maintained open sessions where anyone could ask questions on any Islamic topic, and he responded to thousands of written inquiries with detailed, practical answers. His approach balanced scholarly rigor with practical compassion, making complex fiqh issues understandable for non-specialists. He was particularly prolific in حج-related guidance, producing extensive materials to help حجاج understand and perform their rituals correctly.
He taught at several institutions in Riyadh and gave regular lectures and seminars that were widely attended and distributed through audio recordings and later the internet. He passed away in Riyadh in 2009 CE (1430 AH) after a period of illness, mourned by millions who had benefited from his accessible, compassionate scholarship.
