The Martyrs of Uhud cemetery (Shuhada Uhud) is located at the foot of Mount Uhud, where the 70 companions martyred in the Battle of Uhud (3 AH) are buried. The most notable grave belongs to Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib (RA), نبی کریم's uncle, known as the Lion of Allah. نبی کریم (PBUH) regularly visited this site and made دعا for the martyrs.
After the Battle of Uhud in 3 AH, the 70 martyred companions were buried at the battlefield site at the foot of Mount Uhud. نبی کریم (PBUH) oversaw their burial, and Hamza (RA) and Abdullah ibn Jahsh (RA) were buried together. نبی کریم used to visit them and make دعا, saying: 'Peace be upon you for what you endured patiently. How excellent is the ultimate abode.' The site has been maintained and enclosed, though grave structures were simplified in accordance with local religious rulings.
This cemetery holds the blessed companions who gave their lives for Islam at the Battle of Uhud. The قرآن states about such martyrs: 'Do not think of those killed in the way of Allah as dead. They are alive with their Lord, well provided for' (3:169). Visiting and making دعا for them follows the sunnah of نبی کریم (PBUH).
The cemetery is at the foot of Mount Uhud, about 5 km north of مسجد نبوی. It is usually visited alongside Mount Uhud. The cemetery is enclosed but can be viewed from the outside. Male visitors may enter during visiting hours. When visiting, give salam to the martyrs and make دعا for them using the authentic prophetic دعائیں. Do not rub or touch the graves or leave items on them. The visit is a sunnah act of remembering the sacrifice of the companions.
