مسجد الجمعة
Masjid al-Jummah marks the location where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) performed the first Jummah (Friday) نماز during his migration from مکہ مکرمہ to مدینہ منورہ. Located in the Ranuna valley between Quba and central مدینہ منورہ, نبی کریم stopped here when Friday نماز time arrived during his journey from Quba to مدینہ منورہ, leading about 100 Muslims in نماز.
After spending several days at Quba upon his arrival from مکہ مکرمہ, نبی کریم (PBUH) set out toward central مدینہ منورہ on a Friday. When the time for نماز arrived, he was in the Ranuna valley in the area of Banu Salim ibn Awf. He stopped and led the first Friday نماز in Islamic history, delivering a khutbah to about 100 companions. This established the institution of Jummah نماز as a weekly congregational obligation. The مسجد built at this location commemorates that historic نماز.
Masjid al-Jummah commemorates the establishment of Friday congregational نماز, one of the most important weekly institutions in Islam. The first Jummah نماز and khutbah represent the beginning of organized Muslim community life in مدینہ منورہ, a foundational moment in Islamic history.
Masjid al-Jummah is located along the road between Masjid Quba and مسجد نبوی, making it easy to include in a Quba visit. The مسجد is relatively small but well-maintained. There are no specific rituals associated with visiting. It is a regular functioning مسجد where daily نمازs are held. The historical significance makes it a worthwhile stop for those interested in seerah (prophetic biography). Some organized ziyarah tours include this مسجد in their itinerary.
