ميزاب الرحمة
The Mizab ar-Rahmah (Spout of Mercy) is the golden water spout located on the rooftop of the کعبۃ اللہ on its northwest side. It channels rainwater from the کعبۃ اللہ's roof into the Hijr Ismail area below. The current gold spout was installed during Saudi-era renovations and is a recognizable feature of the کعبۃ اللہ.
The Mizab ar-Rahmah has existed in various forms since the early reconstructions of the کعبۃ اللہ. It was first installed to direct rainwater away from the interior. Over centuries, it has been replaced and renovated multiple times. The current golden spout was crafted from gold and installed by the Saudi government. Rainwater that falls from it into the Hijr Ismail is considered blessed by many حجاج.
The Mizab ar-Rahmah is considered a feature of mercy. The water that flows from it is viewed as blessed. The area directly beneath it within the Hijr Ismail is considered one of the most virtuous places for دعا.
The Mizab ar-Rahmah is visible from the mataf area on the northwest side of the کعبۃ اللہ, directly above the Hijr Ismail. It is best viewed from a distance or from the upper floors of مسجد الحرام. On rare rainy days, حجاج gather in the Hijr Ismail to receive the rainwater flowing from the spout. The area beneath it inside the Hijr is a مستحب place for دعا.
