منطقة قباء
The Quba area is a district in southern مدینہ منورہ where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) first stayed upon arriving from مکہ مکرمہ during the Hijrah in 622 CE. He stayed with the family of Amr ibn Awf for about 14 days and established Masjid Quba, the first مسجد in Islam. The area has since developed into a vibrant neighborhood centered around the expanded Masjid Quba.
Quba was a settlement south of the main مدینہ منورہ area inhabited by the Banu Amr ibn Awf clan. When نبی کریم (PBUH) arrived during the Hijrah, he was welcomed here and stayed with Kulthum ibn al-Hidm. During his stay, he established Masjid Quba and waited for Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA) to arrive from مکہ مکرمہ. The area has been part of مدینہ منورہ's urban growth and is now a well-developed district centered around the greatly expanded Masjid Quba, which recently underwent a massive modernization and expansion project.
Quba holds the distinction of being نبی کریم's first residence in the مدینہ منورہ region and the site of the first مسجد in Islam. The area represents the beginning of the Islamic state and the warm welcome the Ansar (helpers) of مدینہ منورہ extended to the Muhajirin (migrants) from مکہ مکرمہ.
The Quba area is located about 3.5 km south of مسجد نبوی. It is easily accessible by taxi, bus, or the planned مدینہ منورہ Metro. The main attraction is Masjid Quba, but the surrounding area has restaurants, shops, and date markets. Many حجاج combine a visit to Masjid Quba with a walk through the area. The road between Quba and مسجد نبوی (Quba Road) is a pleasant walk of about 40 minutes, following a route similar to what نبی کریم walked. Several smaller historic sites are along this route.
