الركن اليماني
The Yemeni Corner (Rukn al-Yamani) is the southwestern corner of the کعبۃ اللہ, facing Yemen. It is sunnah to touch it with the right hand during طواف without kissing it. Between the Yemeni Corner and the حجر اسود, حجاج recite the دعا: 'Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhab an-nar.'
The Yemeni Corner is one of the four corners of the کعبۃ اللہ, named because it faces the direction of Yemen. It rests on the original foundations laid by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), unlike some other parts of the کعبۃ اللہ which were modified over time. نبی کریم Muhammad (PBUH) used to touch this corner during طواف, establishing it as a sunnah practice. Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) was particularly known for never missing touching both the Yemeni Corner and the حجر اسود.
The Yemeni Corner stands on the original Ibrahimic foundations of the کعبۃ اللہ. Touching it is an established sunnah. The stretch between the Yemeni Corner and the حجر اسود is a particularly blessed segment of طواف, where a specific قرآنic دعا is مستحب.
During طواف, try to touch the Yemeni Corner with your right hand as you pass. Do not kiss it or say 'Allahu Akbar' when touching it (this is specific to the حجر اسود). If the crowd prevents you from reaching it, continue without pointing toward it (unlike the حجر اسود where pointing is sunnah). Between this corner and the حجر اسود, recite the مستحب دعا from Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201.
