Is it permissible to get married or propose marriage while in the state of احرام?

It is not permissible for a person in the state of احرام to marry, give someone in marriage, or propose marriage. نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: 'The muhrim (one in احرام) shall not marry, nor give in marriage, nor propose marriage' (Sahih Muslim 1409). This prohibition is agreed upon by the four schools of fiqh. Sheikh Ibn Baz stated: 'Marriage during احرام is invalid جمہور علماء کے مطابق, and the contract must be repeated after leaving the state of احرام' (Fatawa Ibn Baz, vol. 16). If a marriage contract is performed during احرام, the majority hold that it is invalid and must be redone. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen stated: 'Any marriage contract concluded while one or both parties are in احرام is void and must be renewed after tahallul.'
