A woman in the state of nifas (post-partum bleeding) can perform all the rites of حج except طواف around the کعبۃ اللہ and نماز. She enters احرام, stands at عرفات, stays at مزدلفہ, stones the جمرات, and performs all other rites. She only delays her طواف until her bleeding stops and she performs غسل. This is based on the hadith of Aisha about Asma bint Umays who gave birth at Dhul Hulayfah during the Farewell حج: 'نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) commanded her to perform غسل, enter احرام, and do all the rites except طواف around the House until she was pure' (Sahih Muslim 1209). Sheikh Ibn Baz stated: 'The ruling on nifas is the same as menstruation with regard to حج: she does everything except طواف and نماز in the مسجد' (Fatawa Ibn Baz, vol. 16).
