The Day of عرفة is the most significant day of the Islamic year and the pinnacle of الحج. النبي (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: 'The best الدعاء is the الدعاء on the Day of عرفة, and the best thing that I and the prophets before me said is: La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadir.' This dhikr should be repeated abundantly throughout the day.
Beyond this specific dhikr, the Day of عرفة is the time for the most personal, heartfelt, and urgent الأدعية. Ask Allah for everything — forgiveness, guidance, health, provision, protection of your family, success in this life and the next. There are no required set الأدعية for عرفة; the most powerful الصلوات come from a sincere and broken heart. Make دعاء in your own language so you can express yourself deeply. Cry if you can — النبي (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said that Allah descends to the lowest heaven on this day and boasts to the angels about the الحجاج.
Practical tips for maximizing your عرفة experience: after combining Dhuhr and Asr الصلوات, spend the entire afternoon until sunset in continuous worship. Alternate between دعاء, dhikr, القرآن recitation, istighfar (seeking forgiveness), and salawat (blessings upon النبي). Face the القبلةh and raise your hands when making دعاء. Prepare a written list of الأدعية before the day so you do not forget anything important. Stay hydrated and in shade to maintain your energy for this marathon of worship.
