التَّحَلُّل الأَكْبَر
Tahallul Akbar represents the complete and final release from all الإحرام restrictions during الحج. While the first Tahallul (Tahallul Asghar) lifts most prohibitions after stoning and shaving, the restriction on sexual relations with one's spouse remains until Tahallul Akbar is achieved. This occurs upon completing الطواف al-Ifadah (also called الطواف al-Ziyarah or الطواف al-الحج) and the السعي of الحج for those who haven't already performed it. الطواف al-Ifadah is a Rukn (pillar) of الحج — without it, the الحج is incomplete. While it is best performed on the 10th of ذو الحجة, it can be delayed to the Days of التشريق or even later عند most scholars, though delaying it excessively without excuse is مكروه. Once Tahallul Akbar is achieved, the الحاج is fully released from the sacred state: all aspects of normal life resume, and no الإحرام-related restrictions remain. The الحاج has now completed the core of their الحج obligations.
