How does gender segregation work in Saudi Arabia during হজ্জ?

Saudi Arabia's approach to gender segregation has evolved significantly under Vision 2030 reforms. Inside both Harams, designated সালাত areas for women are clearly marked on upper floors and specific ground-level sections. The তাওয়াফ area around the কাবা শরীফ is shared space where men and women perform তাওয়াফ together.

In public spaces, strict segregation has largely been relaxed. Shopping malls, markets, and public transport are mixed-gender. Hotels operate without segregation. However, physical contact between unrelated men and women remains socially unacceptable.

During হজ্জ rituals, men and women perform all rites in the same spaces. Family groups stay together throughout. Saudi Arabia now allows women over 45 to travel in organized groups without a mahram.
