হজ্জ Mabroor means a righteous, accepted হজ্জ — performed with sincerity, halal funds, proper ritual observance, and avoidance of sin, with its only reward being Paradise.
হজ্জ Mabroor (حج مبرور) comes from the Arabic root 'birr' meaning righteousness and goodness. It refers to a হজ্জ that is sincerely performed, properly executed, and accepted by Allah. নবী করীম Muhammad (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) said: 'An accepted হজ্জ (হজ্জ Mabroor) has no reward except Paradise' (agreed upon by Bukhari and Muslim), highlighting its immense spiritual significance.
Scholars identify several conditions for হজ্জ Mabroor: the intention must be purely for Allah's sake (ikhlas), the money used must be from halal (lawful) earnings, the হাজী must avoid obscenity, sinful speech, and quarreling during হজ্জ, all rituals must be performed correctly following the Sunnah, and the হাজী should return home in a better spiritual state than they departed. Imam al-Nawawi noted that হজ্জ Mabroor is one that has no sin mixed into it, while Imam al-Hasan al-Basri said it is recognized by the হাজী returning ascetic toward this world and desirous of the Hereafter.
