Marriage in ইহরাম(النكاح في الإحرام) The prohibition of contracting marriage, proposing marriage, or acting as a marriage guardian while in the state of ইহরাম. This applies to both হজ্জ and উমরাহ and is agreed upon by the majority of scholars.
النكاح في الإحرام
নবী করীম Muhammad (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) said: 'The muhrim should not marry, give in marriage, or make a proposal of marriage' (Sahih Muslim). This prohibition covers the হাজী entering into a new marriage contract, serving as the wali (guardian) in someone else's marriage, or making a formal marriage proposal. According to the majority of scholars (Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali), any marriage contract performed during ইহরাম is invalid and must be repeated after ইহরাম ends. The Hanafi school considers the contract sinful but technically valid, though this is the minority view. Physical intimacy between existing spouses is also prohibited during ইহরাম and can invalidate the হজ্জ if it occurs before the standing at আরাফাত.
From Arabic النكاح (an-nikah, 'marriage contract') and الإحرام (al-ইহরাম, 'the sacred state'). Nikah derives from the root ن-ك-ح indicating the marriage bond.
