| Pronunciation | it-MAAM as-SA'-ee |
| Etymology | From Arabic إتمام (itmam, 'completion/finishing') and السعي (as-sa'i, 'the striving'). The root ت-م-م indicates bringing something to completion. |
সাঈ Completion(إتمام السعي) The proper conclusion of the সাঈ ritual, which occurs when the seventh lap ends at Marwah. After সাঈ, the হাজী proceeds to halq (shaving) or taqsir (trimming) to complete the rites.
إتمام السعي
Completing সাঈ correctly requires finishing all seven laps with the final lap ending at Marwah. If a হাজী is unsure about the count, they should assume the lower number and complete additional laps to reach seven. Upon reaching Marwah for the seventh time, the হাজী may make dua but there is no specific prescribed দোয়া. For উমরাহ, the next step after সাঈ completion is halq or taqsir (shaving or trimming the hair), which marks the exit from ইহরাম. For হজ্জ Tamattu, the সাঈ may be performed after তাওয়াফ al-Ifadah. Scholars differ on whether অযু (ablution) is required for সাঈ — the majority view is that it is মুস্তাহাব (mustahabb) but not required, unlike তাওয়াফ. সাঈ can be paused for salah or rest and then resumed from where the হাজী stopped.
From Arabic إتمام (itmam, 'completion/finishing') and السعي (as-sa'i, 'the striving'). The root ت-م-م indicates bringing something to completion.
