On the 11th of Dhul Hijjah (first day of Tashreeq), হাজীগণ stone all three জামারাত pillars after Dhuhr সালাত — starting with the small (Sughra), then the medium (Wusta), then the large (Aqabah) — throwing 7 pebbles at each, and making dua after the first two pillars.

Pray Fajr in মিনা and Prepare Pebbles
Begin the day by praying Fajr in মিনা. You should have collected 21 pebbles (7 for each of the three জামারাত). Each pebble should be roughly the size of a chickpea or date seed. Wash the pebbles if needed. The time for stoning on this day begins after the sun passes its zenith (Dhuhr time) জমহুর উলামাদের মতে. Use the morning to rest, make dhikr, and recite কুরআন while waiting for the permissible stoning time.
- Do NOT stone before Dhuhr on the days of Tashreeq — the majority of scholars hold that stoning before zawal (noon) is invalid on these days.
- Avoid the extreme midday heat. Carry water and use an umbrella.

Stone the Small Pillar (জামারাত al-Sughra) — 7 Pebbles
After Dhuhr, proceed to the জামারাত complex. Begin with the small pillar (জামারাত al-Sughra), which is the one closest to Masjid al-Khaif and farthest from মক্কা মুকাররমা. Throw 7 pebbles, one at a time, saying 'Bismillah, Allahu Akbar' with each throw. After completing the stoning, move to the right side away from the pillar, face the Qiblah, raise your hands, and make a lengthy dua. নবী করীম (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) would stand here for a long time supplicating.
- Do NOT throw shoes, large rocks, or multiple pebbles at once. Each pebble must be thrown individually.

What Are Common Mistakes to Avoid?

These are the most frequent errors pilgrims make during this stage of Hajj.

Stoning before Dhuhr on the days of Tashreeq. Unlike the 10th of Dhul Hijjah (where stoning after Fajr is permitted), the days of Tashreeq require waiting until after zawal (the sun's zenith) জমহুর উলামাদের মতে.
Stoning the pillars in the wrong order (e.g., starting with the large pillar). The correct sequence is always: small (Sughra), then medium (Wusta), then large (Aqabah). Reversing this order invalidates the stoning according to most scholars.
Throwing all 7 pebbles at once instead of one at a time. Each pebble is a separate act of worship and must be thrown individually with the takbir.
