সাঈ is walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwa (approximately 450 meters each way, totaling ~3.15 km). It commemorates Hajar's desperate search for water for her son Ismail. সাঈ is a rukn (pillar) of both হজ্জ and উমরাহ. Begin at Safa, end at Marwa. Men should jog between the two green markers. Wudu is মুস্তাহাব but not required.
After completing তাওয়াফ and its two rak'at, proceed to the hill of Safa. Upon approaching Safa, recite: 'Innas-Safa wal-Marwata min sha'a'irillah' (Indeed, Safa and Marwa are among the symbols of Allah) — কুরআন 2:158. Add: 'I begin with what Allah began with.' Climb Safa and face the কাবা শরীফ.
Upon Safa, face the কাবা শরীফ, raise your hands, and make dua. নবী করীম (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) would recite 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadir' three times, with dua in between. This is a station where dua is accepted.
These are the most frequent errors pilgrims make during this stage of Hajj.

Descend from Safa and walk toward Marwa. The corridor is approximately 450 meters long. Walk at a normal pace, making dua and dhikr throughout. When you reach the area between the two green markers, men should jog briskly through this section. Women walk at their normal pace throughout.
Upon reaching Marwa, face the direction of the কাবা শরীফ, raise your hands, and repeat the same dua and dhikr as at Safa. This completes lap 1. The return trip from Marwa to Safa counts as lap 2.
Continue walking back and forth between Safa and Marwa until you complete seven laps. The count: Safa to Marwa (1), Marwa to Safa (2), Safa to Marwa (3), Marwa to Safa (4), Safa to Marwa (5), Marwa to Safa (6), Safa to Marwa (7). You begin at Safa and end at Marwa.
Upon completing the seventh lap at Marwa, your সাঈ is complete. Make a final dua. For উমরাহ: proceed to have your hair shaved or trimmed. For হজ্জ: after the হজ্জ সাঈ (after তাওয়াফ al-Ifadah), this completes the হজ্জ ritual requirements.
