The Battle of Uhud took place on the 7th of Shawwal, 3 AH (625 CE), one year after the Muslim victory at Badr. The Quraysh of মক্কা মুকাররমা, seeking revenge, marched on মদীনা মুনাওয়ারা with approximately 3,000 fighters. নবী করীম Muhammad positioned his 700-strong force at the base of Mount Uhud, placing 50 archers on a strategic hill with strict orders not to leave their position. The Muslims initially gained the upper hand, but when many archers abandoned their post to collect war spoils — believing the battle was won — the Quraysh cavalry commander Khalid ibn al-Walid (who later became a Muslim) exploited the gap and attacked from behind. The resulting confusion led to heavy Muslim casualties. Seventy companions were martyred, including নবী করীম's beloved uncle Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib, and নবী করীম himself was injured.
Mount Uhud is a large mountain approximately 5 kilometers north of Masjid al-Nabawi, with its distinctive red-tinged rocky face. নবী করীম Muhammad (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) expressed a special love for this mountain.
