مسجد نمرة
Masjid Namirah is a large মসজিদ located at the western edge of the Plain of আরাফাত. It is where the হজ্জ khutbah (sermon) is delivered on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, and where Dhuhr and Asr সালাতs are combined and shortened. The মসজিদ can accommodate over 350,000 worshippers. Part of the মসজিদ is technically outside the boundaries of আরাফাত.
Masjid Namirah is built near the location where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his Farewell Sermon during his only হজ্জ in 10 AH. After the sermon, he led the combined and shortened Dhuhr and Asr সালাতs. The মসজিদ has been expanded multiple times, most significantly during the Saudi era, and now covers an area of approximately 110,000 square meters. It is one of the largest মসজিদs used only once a year.
Masjid Namirah marks the site of নবী করীম's Farewell Sermon, one of the most important speeches in human history, addressing human rights, equality, and Islamic principles. The combining of সালাতs here is a sunnah that all হাজীগণ follow on the Day of Arafah.
Masjid Namirah is primarily used on the Day of Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah). The মসজিদ's front section, where the minbar is located, falls in the valley of Uranah, which is technically outside আরাফাত boundaries. Pilgrims should ensure they stand (wuquf) within the boundaries of আরাফাত, not in the Uranah valley portion. The মসজিদ provides one of the few shaded areas on the plain. Arrive early to secure a spot inside. The হজ্জ sermon is broadcast via loudspeakers across the entire plain.
