What is the Sunnah regarding Fajr সালাত and দোয়া at মুযদালিফা?

The Sunnah of নবী করীম (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) at মুযদালিফা was to pray Fajr at its earliest time — as soon as the time enters — and then proceed to Mash'ar al-Haram where he stood facing the qiblah, supplicating and remembering Allah until it became very light (just before sunrise). He then departed for মিনা before the sun rose. This morning দোয়া at মুযদালিফা is one of the great acts of worship during হজ্জ, referenced in আল-কুরআন: 'When you depart from আরাফাত, remember Allah at Mash'ar al-Haram' (2:198).

Sheikh Ibn Baz explained that নবী করীম prayed Fajr at its earliest time at মুযদালিফা specifically to maximize the time available for দোয়া before departure. This is unlike the general recommendation to delay Fajr slightly — at মুযদালিফা, praying early is the Sunnah. After Fajr, the হাজী should face the qiblah and make extensive dua, raising their hands, until the sky becomes noticeably bright. Then they should depart for মিনা calmly, before the sun actually rises.

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen clarified that while নবী করীম stood specifically at Mash'ar al-Haram, all of মুযদালিফা is a valid place for this standing and দোয়া, as he said: 'I stood here, but all of মুযদালিফা is a standing place.' Going to the specific location of Mash'ar al-Haram is not required, especially given the enormous crowds. The হাজী should supplicate from wherever they are in মুযদালিফা after Fajr সালাত.
