What is the ruling on a woman performing হজ্জ without a mahram?

The majority of scholars from the Hanbali and Hanafi schools hold that a mahram is a condition for the obligation of হজ্জ for women. নবী করীম (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) said: 'A woman should not travel except with a mahram' (Sahih al-Bukhari 1862, Sahih Muslim 1341). Sheikh Ibn Baz stated: 'It is not permissible for a woman to perform হজ্জ without a mahram, even if she is with trustworthy women.' However, the Shafi'i and Maliki schools permit a woman to travel with trustworthy women for ওয়াজিব হজ্জ if no mahram is available. The safest position is to travel with a mahram.
