Yawm Arafah(يَوْم عَرَفَة) Yawm Arafah is the 9th of Dzulhijjah, the pinnacle of Haji. Pilgrims perform Wuquf (standing) at the plain of Arafah from noon to sunset, engaging in intense doa, repentance, and devotion.
يَوْم عَرَفَة
Yawm Arafah is considered the greatest day in the Islamic calendar. Nabi Muhammad (shallallahu alaihi wa sallam) declared, 'Haji is Arafah' (Al-Hakim), meaning that presence at Arafah is the essential pillar without which Haji is invalid. After Fajr in Mina, jamaah haji proceed to the vast plain of Arafah, approximately 20 kilometers east of Mekkah. At noon, the imam delivers a sermon (khutbah) at Masjid Namirah, and jamaah haji combine and shorten Dhuhr and Asr shalat. From then until sunset, jamaah haji engage in Wuquf — standing in earnest doa, seeking forgiveness, and making doa. Nabi said no day sees more souls freed from Hellfire than the Day of Arafah. For non-jamaah haji, fasting on this day expiates the sins of the previous and coming year. After sunset, jamaah haji depart for Muzdalifah without praying Maghrib at Arafah, combining it with Isha at Muzdalifah.
