What Does Rawdah Mean in Detail?

The Rawdah (also called Riyad al-Jannah, 'Garden of Paradise') is one of the most spiritually significant places in Islam. نبی کریم Muhammad (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: 'Between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit is upon my Hawd (pool in Paradise)' (Sahih Bukhari and Muslim). The area is approximately 22 meters long and 15 meters wide, marked by distinctive green carpet (while the rest of the مسجد has red carpet). Pillars within the Rawdah mark historically significant locations. Due to its immense spiritual value, the Rawdah is extremely crowded, especially during حج and عمرہ seasons. Separate visiting times are allocated for men and women. Pilgrims visiting مدینہ منورہ (typically before or after حج) make every effort to pray in the Rawdah, as نمازs there carry extraordinary virtue. Visitors should also send salawat (blessings) upon نبی کریم at his blessed tomb.
