Covering the Head (Men)(تغطية الرأس للرجال) The الإحرام prohibition preventing male الحجاج from covering their heads with fitted garments or items that rest on the head. This restriction applies only to men and is one of the fundamental الإحرام prohibitions.
تغطية الرأس للرجال
النبي Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) instructed that a man who dies in الإحرام should not have his head covered during the funeral preparation, establishing the importance of the uncovered head during الإحرام. Men may not wear caps, turbans, helmets, headbands, or any item that sits on or wraps around the head. However, scholars permit the use of umbrellas for shade, carrying items on the head (such as luggage), and the natural shade from buildings or vehicles. If a man unintentionally covers his head and removes it immediately upon remembering, no penalty applies. Intentional covering requires فدية. Women follow the opposite rule — they should cover their hair but not their faces (عند the majority view).
From Arabic تغطية (taghTiyah, 'covering') and الرأس (ar-ra's, 'the head'). The prohibition is derived from Prophetic hadith regarding الإحرام dress code.
