Hady(هَدْي) Hady is the animal sacrifice offered in the Haram area of مكة during الحج, واجب for الحجاج performing الحج Tamattu or الحج Qiran as a thanksgiving to Allah for the blessing of combining الحج and العمرة.
هَدْي
The Hady is mentioned in القرآن: 'And complete الحج and العمرة for Allah. But if you are prevented, then [offer] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals' (2:196). It is واجب for Tamattu and Qiran الحجاج as a shukr (thanksgiving) sacrifice, while Ifrad الحجاج are not required to offer it but may do so voluntarily. The animal must meet certain criteria: a sheep or goat must be at least one year old, a cow at least two years, and a camel at least five years. The animal must be free of defects (not blind, lame, sick, or emaciated). One sheep or goat suffices for one الحاج, while a cow or camel can be shared among up to seven الحجاج. The sacrifice is performed in the Haram area on the 10th of ذو الحجة or during the Days of التشريق. A الحاج who cannot afford the Hady must fast three days during الحج and seven days after returning home. Modern الحجاج often purchase vouchers from authorized companies that perform the sacrifice on their behalf.
