Hady(هَدْي) Hady is the animal sacrifice offered in the Haram area of مکہ مکرمہ during حج, واجب for حجاج performing حج Tamattu or حج Qiran as a thanksgiving to Allah for the blessing of combining حج and عمرہ.
هَدْي
The Hady is mentioned in قرآن مجید: 'And complete حج and عمرہ for Allah. But if you are prevented, then [offer] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals' (2:196). It is واجب for Tamattu and Qiran حجاج as a shukr (thanksgiving) sacrifice, while Ifrad حجاج are not required to offer it but may do so voluntarily. The animal must meet certain criteria: a sheep or goat must be at least one year old, a cow at least two years, and a camel at least five years. The animal must be free of defects (not blind, lame, sick, or emaciated). One sheep or goat suffices for one حاجی, while a cow or camel can be shared among up to seven حجاج. The sacrifice is performed in the Haram area on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah or during the Days of Tashreeq. A حاجی who cannot afford the Hady must fast three days during حج and seven days after returning home. Modern حجاج often purchase vouchers from authorized companies that perform the sacrifice on their behalf.
