Hajj registration is managed through either the Sunni Endowments Council or the Jaafari Endowments Council, depending on the pilgrim's denomination. Applications are submitted through licensed Hajj operators. Valid passport, vaccination certificates, and medical report are required.
Licensed Hajj campaigns operate under the supervision of the endowments councils. The ministry publishes authorized operators each year. Both Sunni and Shia operators offer packages tailored to their respective communities.
Bahrain's proximity to Saudi Arabia via the King Fahd Causeway (25 km bridge) makes overland Hajj travel very convenient. Many Bahraini pilgrims drive to Makkah in approximately 6 hours. The government provides subsidies for first-time Bahraini pilgrim citizens. Both Sunni and Shia communities have dedicated Hajj organizations.
