South African pilgrims must apply through SAHUC-accredited Hajj operators. SAHUC (South African Hajj and Umrah Council) is the sole body authorized to coordinate Hajj visas with the Saudi Embassy. Applicants need a valid South African passport with at least 6 months validity, medical fitness certificate, meningitis vaccination, and yellow fever vaccination if applicable. Only SAHUC-accredited Hajj operators may offer Hajj packages to South African pilgrims. SAHUC publishes a list of accredited operators each year on its website (www.sahuc.org.za). Operators offer various package tiers from economy to 5-star. South African travel agencies without SAHUC accreditation cannot process Hajj visas. Pilgrims should verify accreditation before making payments.
