Hajj Mabroor means a righteous, accepted Hajj — performed with sincerity, halal funds, proper ritual observance, and avoidance of sin, with its only reward being Paradise.
Hajj Mabroor (حج مبرور) comes from the Arabic root 'birr' meaning righteousness and goodness. It refers to a pilgrimage that is sincerely performed, properly executed, and accepted by Allah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'An accepted Hajj (Hajj Mabroor) has no reward except Paradise' (agreed upon by Bukhari and Muslim), highlighting its immense spiritual significance.
Scholars identify several conditions for Hajj Mabroor: the intention must be purely for Allah's sake (ikhlas), the money used must be from halal (lawful) earnings, the pilgrim must avoid obscenity, sinful speech, and quarreling during Hajj, all rituals must be performed correctly following the Sunnah, and the pilgrim should return home in a better spiritual state than they departed. Imam al-Nawawi noted that Hajj Mabroor is one that has no sin mixed into it, while Imam al-Hasan al-Basri said it is recognized by the pilgrim returning ascetic toward this world and desirous of the Hereafter.
